Namgyal Monastery is currently located in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, India. It is the personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama. Another name for this temple-complex is Namgyal Tantric College. Namgyal Monastery was founded back in 16th century by the third Dalai Lama. The monastery has been named in honor of the female long-life deity of the Kriya Tantra class in Tibetan Buddhism, Namgyalma. The Namgyal Monastery was first established by the 3rd Dalai Lama in 1575 in Tibet and was relocated to Dharamshala following the Tibetan uprising in 1959. The monastery currently houses around 200 Tibetan monks, who help preserve the monastery's ancient rituals, artistic skills and traditions. The study of Buddhism includes modern studies of both Tibetan and English language, study of Sutra and Tantra texts, Buddhist Philosophy, making butter sculptures, torma offerings, sand mandalas, playing various ritual musical instruments, ritual chanting, and dances.

The Tibet Museum is the official museum of the Central Tibetan Administration's Department of Information and International Relations and is located near the main temple of the 14th Dalai Lama in the Dharamshala. The Tibet Museum aims to disseminate knowledge of Tibetan history and culture while raising awareness of the occupation of Tibet and the ongoing human rights abuses committed by China. The museum was as established in 1998 with an objective of documenting and preserving Tibetan cultural aspects and to educate Tibetans and non-Tibetans about this rich heritage and history. Thousands of natives and foreigners visit the museum now. The building is so beautifully constructed and stands at a very picturesque backdrop. A large number of Tibetans and tourists visit the museum now. Tibetan Museum also arranges many exhibitions, lectures, and installations here and also offer educational facilities related to Tibetan history. On 30 April 2000, the 14th Dalai Lama inaugurated the museum in a ceremony attended by around 300 dignitaries and volunteers. The Tibet Museum presents Tibet's history and visions for its future through texts, photographs, videos and installations.

Dharamkot is a small hill station in Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. On the crest of a hill above McLeodGanj, Dharamkot is a spot with wide views of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar ranges. There are a couple of small eateries around. Several foreigners have taken residence in the area; all live in village homes and guest houses. Dharamkot also has the Vipassana meditation centre, Dhamma Shikara, as well as the Tushita Meditation Centre which is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism in the Tibetan Mahayana tradition.
Past Dharamkot, at a distance of 9 km from McLeodGanj, much of which is a steady climb, Triund is at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges and is at a height of 2,827 m. The snow line, which is considered[by whom?] to be the most easily accessible in the entire Himalayan range starts from Ilaqua, 4 km from Triund. A good walker will take around four hours to reach Triund from McLeodganj and another one and a half to two hours to reach Ilaqua. After Dharamkot, one passes by the Galu Devi Temple when the climb and the trail becomes demanding.
